October 2000 – November 2004: Project Manager and Solution Architect (Consultant)

At DOFA Steven worked as a Project Manager and Solution Architect across numerous simultaneous ICT Infrastructure and Applications Development Projects:

  • Oversaw the migration of the AGIMO applications and data from IBM GSA Data Centre to the Verizon Data Centres.
  • Managed jointly the establishment and ongoing operations of 9 Whole of Government Web-based Applications including fed.gov.au; fedinfo.gov.au; directory.gov.au; australia.gov.au; www.gov.au, domainname.gov.au and bookshop.gov.au.
  • Established a new Gateway and Firewall Rules for whole-of-government web applications with IBM GSA.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Executive, establish the strategic ICT direction for the Whole of Government Portals.
  • Jointly established the Whole of Government Domain Name Policies for Federal, State and Local Government jurisdictions.
  • Managed the establishment of Cross Jurisdictional Governance arrangements for Whole of Government Web-based Portals.
  • Delivered a new Australia.gov.au Website on time and on budget.
  • Managed the development of Inter-departmental Instructions and Guidelines for Information Management and Whole of Government Search.
  • Produced written and verbal communication for the Senior Executives, often on complex ICT matters using language appropriate for the target audience.
  • Providing leadership within the Department on Project Management incorporating the principles of PRINCE2.
  • Providing strategic direction to a highly efficient and diverse team of 6 staff.
